In 2013 the Textile Study Group Award was won by Faith Jane Wray, who was awarded a BA honours in Textile design from Birmingham City University, specialising in embroidery.
Faith’s work displayed a keen motivation for material sourcing to create moods and visual stimuli that were then taken through to embroidered ceramic surfaces of great sensitivity. The presentation was at all times professional and showed enthusiasm for incorporating embroidery stitches and methods into her work.
Faith’s other awards include:
- The Trend Awareness Award made by the Global Color Research for contributions to one of their key interiors awards.
- The George Jackson Travel bursary which she plans to use for more travel to Portugal to seek further inspiration.
- The Emma Jesse Phipps award for outstanding quality and achievement in her final year.
