In 2012 the Textile Study Group Award was won by Rachel Parker, a young 1st class graduate (Norwich University College of the Arts) living in Kettering, Northants. Rachel demonstrated her professional design attitude to her work in her interesting, innovative ideas in stitch and digital print. Her strong ideas and sense of colour and pattern showed in her meticulous and well presented work. Rachel was keen to promote embroidery and to pass on her enthusiasm to others as she develops a career in textile design. She had also been awarded a work placement from Zoffany in the CAMAC 2012 Annual Student Wallpaper Design Competition.
Rachel was presented with her certificate at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, where she exhibited her work as part of the Embroiderers’ Guild Graduate Showcase.
The Textile Study Group gratefully acknowledges the support of the Embroiderers’ Guild and is delighted to help new graduates with this award.
