Textile Study Group Star Award 2026

The Textile Study Group offers a £2,000 award for its Star Project—a unique opportunity for recipients to share their passion for contemporary textiles by leading a creative project. The grant supports research, development, materials, and equipment.

The recipients of the 2026 Star Award are Renata Minoldo and Selina Latour for their project, Sensoryscapes.

Sensoryscapes Wins 2026 Star Project Grant to Host Textile Workshops at Bell House

Sensoryscapes is a slow-textiles duo focused on fibre arts projects, including workshops, creative resources, and soft environments designed for wellbeing and mental health. Working with sustainable, deadstock, and reclaimed materials—with an approach anchored in natural fibres and low-impact processes—the award gives Renata and Selina the opportunity to develop their first community-engaged project.

Over four sessions this autumn, Sensoryscapes will work with the Quilt Academy—a community group based at Bell House in Dulwich, South London—alongside participants from Southwark's social prescribing programme. Together, they will create sensory pillows using reclaimed fabrics, botanical dyes, visible mending, appliqué, quilting, and hand embroidery. Each session builds on the last: moving from conversations about care and embodied memory to local plant colours, meditative stitching, and aromatic, restorative herbs.

Renata and Selina bring complementary practices to the collaboration. Renata's background spans over ten years of slow crafts, creativity, and wellbeing for communities. She has worked with institutions including the V&A, London College of Fashion, Maudsley Hospital, Southbank Centre, and City Lit, where she teaches textiles and contemporary practice. Selina's work is rooted in textile traditions of care and repair, and she teaches and facilitates community workshops across London, with experience spanning Buckinghamshire New University, The Remakery, and Fix It Collective.
