Artist Statement
I make textile collages which bring together old and often disintegrating textiles with hand stitched marks.
I generate interesting surface textures through unpicking and deconstructing old quilts, garments, ethnic and antique cloth. These are patched together and embellished with stitch.
Through preserving the discarded and overlooked and refashioning these rescued rags into new patchworks I hope to force the viewer to re-examine fabrics that have become flawed through wear and tear and find in them a new beauty.
