{"id":1700,"date":"2026-02-06T12:22:23","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T12:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/news\/?p=1700"},"modified":"2026-02-06T12:22:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T12:22:25","slug":"constance-howards-legacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/news\/2026\/02\/06\/constance-howards-legacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Constance Howard&#8217;s legacy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our forthcoming exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/exhibitions\/\">UNmaking<\/a> at the Constance Howard Gallery, Goldsmiths, London, is a wonderful opportunity for the group to acknowledge our links with the celebrated textile artist <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Constance_Howard_(artist)\">Constance Howard<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Constance was instrumental in establishing the Textile Study Group \u201cto nurture embroidery as an art form and as vehicle for self-expression\u201d.\u00a0She was mentor to the group for a number of years. The last two pieces that she stitched provide a unique way of celebrating the close relationship between Constance and the Textile Study Group.
