My collaboration is with the Embroiderers&#8217; Guild &#8211; an educational charity using its Collection and its publications (<em>Embroidery<\/em> and <em>Stitch<\/em>) to inspire and enrich, through embroidery, the lives of members, readers and the general public. Articles in these magazines promote the creation of embroidery, inspire original work based on the study of embroideries in the Guild&#8217;s 11,000 strong Collection, and also encourage &#8216;makers&#8217; to become &#8216;teachers&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Ann Smith from Sheffield was inspired by the colour and texture in the <em>Stitch<\/em> article, &#8220;Just One Stitch: Double Knot Stitch&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"double knot stitch in Stitch with the Embroiderers' Guild magazine\" rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/creativedialoguesexhibition\/files\/2008\/06\/doubleknotstitch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-65\" src=\"https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/creativedialoguesexhibition\/files\/2008\/06\/doubleknotstitch-211x300.jpg\" alt=\"double knot stitch in Stitch with the Embroiderers' Guild magazine\" width=\"211\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/creativedialoguesexhibition\/files\/2008\/06\/doubleknotstitch-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/textilestudygroup.co.uk\/creativedialoguesexhibition\/files\/2008\/06\/doubleknotstitch.jpg 595w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 211px) 100vw, 211px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The vibrancy of the blue colours immediately caught my attention, followed closely by the texture created by the manipulations of this stitch. The article encouraged me to try some of the techniques and I have worked many samples. The use of various threads encouraged me to keep on looking around for new ones and to use many of the wonderful threads in my &#8216;stash&#8217;. Most importantly, not only did I have great enjoyment from working on the &#8216;scroll&#8217;, but I also passed on the information to fellow embroiderers when I taught the &#8216;Elizabethan Treasure&#8217;
